Lightmakers has been a household name in lighting for the business market for over 40 years. They have grown considerably in recent years. With this positive development, their challenges also grew. With unique designs and changing trends, it is vital to have the right fabrics, metal parts and information to bring lighting creations to life.
Structure and inventory management are of great importance for Lightmakers to act and deliver quickly. In addition, planning and information is also very important. However, this information is not available centrally, but divided over different knowledge carriers within the organization.
The whole process also consisted of complicated Excel sheets and many sheets of paper. In short, a lot of different pieces of information in different places. Because of the growth of the company all these factors became an ever increasing challenge. Processes became more difficult to follow and planning was done based on gut feelings. All in all an inefficient way of working with high error sensitivity.
"Fast delivery is of great importance to us. Due to the growth of our company, this became increasingly difficult for digitization. "- Joël Vlug
More structure through automation
With the new web application, the complex process of Lightmakers is easily structured and automated. The development started with an analysis of the whole process in order to gain insight into how and why they do things and why exactly in that order.
The whole process has been translated into one central application in which all information is transparent to everyone in real time. All those involved now know exactly which materials are needed. In addition, the information from the central warehouse, with better order and stock accuracy, is always up-to-date. The sales department also logs in easily to view the entire production process. This way Lightmakers can answer customer inquiries much better.
Lightmakers has now used the web application for more than six months. The inventory management, personal planning and warehouse capacity are now much more efficient and effective. Lightmakers has fewer materials in stock and only starts making the lamps once all parts are available.
"Thanks to the application, we now work much more efficiently and achieve better returns, with less effort and cost." - Joël Vlug
They now only buy parts for what they have in the order book. Thanks to the digitization, Lightmakers now has more control over the process. They always know the status of a particular order and thus achieve better results.
